Public Protect Quality Assurance Officer – Grade E

Main purpose of the role:
Support the supervision of investigations into serious sexual offences, and crimes against children or vulnerable adults, ensuring the quality of investigation provides the best service to victims and is prioritised according to risk.
Main responsibilities: – Through focused thematic reviews, review all active crime across the Public Protection Department, to ensure that the investigations are compliant with core investigative doctrine and the victim code. – Support supervisors in identifying additional lines of enquiry and prioritising highest risk cases, and ensuring urgency on such cases is prioritised through the line managers. – Identify those investigations that can be concluded and support the tasking of enquiries to finalise those investigations, whilst ensuring the service and investigation retains the best interest of victims at its centre. – Support supervisors by providing tactical advice and investigation plans to OICs, in order to provide relevant assistance on complex crime enquiries – Provide individual coaching to officers requiring support, in order to develop their skillset or prepare for new events such as crown court trial. – Identify themes and areas for development in respect of crime recording, crime investigation, and working practices, taking a solutions based approach to suggest improvements to the senior management team where issues are identified.
Management Vetting (MV) Necessary experience:
Essential: Accredited investigator (ICIDP or equivalent to PIP level 2) Experienced as a supervisor of investigations as DS equivalent or above or as an SIO An ability and willingness to work alongside Police Officers dealing with sexual crimes against children and adults A sound understanding of core investigative doctrine Current knowledge of National Crime Recording Standards and disposal outcomes.
Understanding of Police Crime Recording systems (currently Genesis) An exposure to detail of sexual abuse is inevitable with this role Desirable: Experience of working with Criminal Justice and statutory partners (eg CPS, schools etc)
3 years referencing required.
Minimum 6 Months Contract.
An ability and willingness to work alongside Police Officers dealing with sexual crimes against children and adults
